How Long is The Trademark registration Process?

Once business owners understand the benefits of owning a registered trademark, they often want to get one immediately! And rightfully so!

I hate to break it to you, but this is the reason you want to plan AHEAD if possible. Currently the timeline for new trademark applications to be assigned to an examining attorney is around 6 months.

The first step is to complete a comprehensive trademark search. This ensures that the mark you want is actually available, and not already in use.

The next step is to draft and submit the application. This is one of the areas where having an attorney makes a significant impact. There are different types of applications you can file, descriptions to write, and classes to include. An attorney understands the examining process and can offer valuable guidance as you make decisions.

After the application is submitted and goes through the review process, there are ongoing tasks, such as monitoring the application status, ensuring all correspondences are handled in a timely manner, and that meeting deadlines additional deadlines.
